- Talks -
They usually feature visiting speakers with illustrated presentations on various subjects connected with the natural world.
We aim for a broad range of talks, addressing all forms of wildlife, and mixing information with entertainment - see our Current Programme. Brief descriptions of recent talks may be found in our Society Journal. Or perhaps we've the odd excerpt or précis (see below).
The occasional talk is given by a society member on a topic of interest.
Some evenings are Society Evenings. These are social events. With things like mini-presentations, natural history quizzes, and displays of photo-albums or other collections. Illustrative materials, especially the quizzes, may subsequently be placed on our web-site, in the Forum area.
A break for tea or coffee is normally a feature of each evening. It offers a chance to chat, or exchange local wildlife news. Also to browse displays supporting the talk; together with other contributions - members being encouraged to bring along miscellaneous interesting items or publications.
- Venue and Times -
The Society meets at Hurst Community Centre, Hurst Place, BEXLEY.
Meetings start 7-40pm. Doors open around 7-20pm to 7-30pm. If you'd like earlier access (to set up displays for example), then please enquire.
We usually meet on the 1st Friday of each calendar month. But CHECK our Current Programme.
- Visitors -
All Indoor Meetings welcome members and non-members alike
- Sightings and Records -
Our Sightings Book is available at indoor meetings.
Everyone is urged to use this (plus the Web-site Journal and other nature-notes pages) to log noteworthy observations - especially local wildlife. As with the refreshment-break, shared enjoyment of the Natural World is one of the society's basic tenets!
